2016 End of Season President's Report

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

What a great season Boddington swimming club has had to date. We have had so many highlights it is hard to know where to begin.

Our registration numbers to date are at 75; of these 75 we have approximately 25 competitive members.

Support from the Boddington Shire has been tremendous and a special mention must go to Grant Bartle for his help and guidance in various matters this season.

A special thank you to our patron, Toni Collins, for your continued support this season.

To Matt our pool manager, thanks mate for all of your support.

Another thank you must go out to all of our sponsors; Newmont Boddington Gold, South 32, Boddington Thrifty Link Hardware, Little Envy Café, Hotham Butchery, BP service station, Contract Aquatic Services, Shire of Boddington, DSR and Heather and the team at the Boddington News. Without your support the season would have been extremely difficult.

Notable highlights:

Boddington has been well represented at 12 individual swim meets this season, including Regional Swim Meet at York, Country Pennants at Moora and the Indian Ocean All Stars (International) swim meet in Perth.

Our swimmers performed extremely well in all of the above meets, Boddington swim club’s second place in D grade at Moora Country pennants being a great way to finish the season. Our swimmers netted 17 x gold medals, 12 x silver medals and 18 x bronze medals at this meet alone.

We also have two new state qualifiers to represent Boddington, Krosby Readhead who has qualified in 4 events as well as Kele Readhead who has qualified in three events. Krosby and Kele will join Calia and Izak Vlastuin in representing Boddington at the WA State long course championships in April 2016.

A special mention must go to one of our members Natalie Ferguson who I think exemplifies the spirit of the Boddington Swimming Club. Natalie is one of our longest serving members. Due to further education, Natalie has had to change schools and this has made it difficult for her to train consistently. This has not stopped Natalie from representing Boddington at various swim meets this season. Natalie always gives 110% and is an ideal role model for our younger swimmers. A huge thank you to your whole family for your continued support.

February 2016 saw the start of the Boddington Swimming School, with over 60 registrations this has been a huge success. Adult classes will be offered in term four of 2016, alongside the Infant Aquatics for babies and toddlers, as well as the learn to swim classes for the youngsters.

To all of our coaches and learn to swim teachers, a huge thanks for your hard work and dedication.

To the Boddington Swimming Club committee, thanks for our most successful season to date and I look forward to working with you in the future.

Lastly I would like to thank the Boddington community for all of your support; you have truly made this club a great success.

For the upcoming 2016/2017 season we have had two new members join the Boddington Swimming Club Committee. They are Janet Gowland and Clare Smailes. Janet and Clare we welcome you aboard and look forward to working with you in the 2016/2017 season.
